We’re not going to take a look at every single tool but we are going to look at almost every one of them.
While this overview will give you an idea of what each tool does, go find yourself a photo and start playing
around with them.
Marquee (Keyboard: M)
The marquee lets you select part of the canvas in a specific shape. By default you get a rectangular (or
perfect square if you hold down shift while selecting), but you can also select in the shape of an ellipse (or a
perfect circle if you hold down shift while selecting).
How To Use Marquee Tool In Photoshop
This is a video tutorial on how to use marquee tool in photoshop.
The MARQUEE TOOL ( M ) let you select rectangles and ellipses.
The shortcut Keys are:
Shift+Drag: Constrains the marquee tool to a perfect circle of square
Alt+Drag: Starts the marquee tool from the center and expands outwards
Alt+Shift+Drag: Starts the marquee tool from the center and and then constrains it to a perfect circle or square depending on which one is selected
Shift: Allows you to add to the selection
Alt: Allows you to delete from the selection
Spacebar: Allows you to move the selection
Make a rectangular selection. Hold the shift key down to constrain the selection to a square.
Note: ImageReady also allows rounded corners in rectangles.
Elliptical Marquee
Make an elliptical selection. Hold the shift key down to constrain the selection to a circle.
Single Row Marquee
Make a horizontal selection 1 pixel high.
Single Column Marquee
Make a vertical selection 1 pixel wide.
